Kwik Trip, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Safety professional in our Store Engineering Department. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for understanding, implementing and championing the company safety programs in multiple areas of Store Engineering according to legal guidelines. Researching, educating and enforcing standards, best practices, programs and policies to establish a culture of health and safety while reducing or eliminating occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Designing, developing and managing all workplace safety guidelines and process that prevent injuries to coworkers
- Creating, preparing and assisting in training opportunities for coworkers, contractors and sub-contractors
- Ensure training and technical content is update to date
- Establish tracking and assist in maintaining all safety documentation
- Promptly address and seek resolution to all safety issues, assist with reporting and completing incidents in INFORM
- Review and investigate all injuries and near miss accidents by conducting a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to further prevent or eliminate any work hazards
- Conduct comprehensive department safety audits, communicate results of the audit and report those into Kwik Trip’s safety management process
- Acts as Kwik Trip’s safety liaison with contractors and outside agencies (i.e. OSHA)
- Conduct an overall screening of existing and optional subcontractors and vendors to understand risk qualifications that work for Store Engineering
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and / or three plus years work experience in an Engineering/Construction environment or manufacturing facility, with an emphasis on workplace safety
- Candidates should have the 10-hour OSHA certification or the ability to obtain it, as well as be First Aid certified
- Understanding of OSHA and other federal and state mandated safety regulations
- Knowledge of constructions safety policies and programs
- Familiarity on how to apply accident investigation and Root Cause Analysis techniques as needed
- General knowledge of accounting/budgeting
- Possess exceptional presentation skills with the ability to influence change
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities
- Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data from various sources to solve problems
- Demonstrate a high level of time management and organizational skills resulting in the ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, contractors, suppliers, management and customers of all personalities, as well as coaching and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate a computer and be proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge of a variety of equipment (i.e. Excavation, fall protection etc.) is a plus
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime hours; however, nights, and weekends will be necessary. Some travel is also required.
