Kwik Trip, Inc. has an exciting new opportunity in our Marketing Department for an individual to join the team as a Regulatory Label and Packaging Compliance Specialist. This position coordinates and reviews the creation and approval of labeling/packaging artwork and generations of print specifications for label/packaging.  This position manages the review process with accountability for directing and approving the formatting for the end-to-end labeling & packaging artwork for all packaging created for Kwik Trip’s vertically integrated production facilities and co-produced products bearing a Kwik Trip or Kwik Star brand. 

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for initiation and management of labeling and packaging projects, including new labeling and packaging, refreshing or revising current labels and packaging

  • Act as the Project Manager/point of contact to build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers, such as the label team, and external vendors to ensure that projects are executed properly, specifications are met, exceptional quality products and ensuring timelines are achieved.

  • Review/proofread labeling for accuracy and regulatory compliance

  • Maintain brand continuity across packaging to support the continued growth and success of Kwik Trip’s brands

  • Provide guidance on formatting of labeling and packaging to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA and other regulatory rules for labels and packaging, using content provided by on-site subject matter experts and vendor contacts

  • Create & maintain brand/product style guides to drive visual continuity and consistency across the brand channels for all products & supporting marketing assets

  • Develop, manage and coordinate, with appropriate departments, the creation of all large format vehicle and OOH art concepts according to client specification and obtaining client approvals

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Print Production Management, Graphic Design, Technical Writing or Packaging Science.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ industry experience in FDA and/or USDA Regulated Food Manufacturing Facilities, Food Labeling Educational Seminars, project management and print production.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience implementing Food Labeling Regulations.

  • Computer skills including but not limited to – Word Processing, Graphic Design, Nutrition/Labeling Software.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.

  • Knowledge and a strong understanding of various packaging/label production phases & printing processes/technologies/materials and equipment with the ability to learn software to make basic type changes within files.

  • Knowledge of USDA/FDA Labeling Regulations/Compliance and Food Manufacturing facilities/equipment.

  • Knowledge of Product Development Process, Graphic Design/Layout Process and Commercial Printing Process.

  • Knowledge of Marketing/Advertising Principles.           

  • Knowledge of Retail sales environment.

  • Strong Organizational and project management skills to track multiple projects.

  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills as well as a keen eye to detail and quality.            

  • Ability to work in an environment of constant change, prioritize work load, multi task under pressure, meet aggressive deadlines and with 100% accuracy.

  • Ability to research and learn governmental regulations to use in labeling/packaging/advertising.       

  • Ability to build partnerships and work effectively with various levels of the organization to meet shared objectives.                       

 

Work Schedule:  Typically Monday through Friday, daytime hours.  May occasionally include evenings or weekend hours and/or overnights.
