Kwik Trip, Inc.’s Store Engineering Department is based in La Crosse, WI and services our 700+ plus retail store locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.  The co-workers in this department are responsible for designing, building, remodeling, and maintaining Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, and Tobacco Outlet Plus Grocery, as well as our car washes.

 

Join our Store Engineering Department as an Environmental Projects Coordinator. In this position, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating multiple projects while providing support for our construction and project division for all Environmental aspects. Projects would include, but are not limited to: asbestos abatements, building demolition, construction dewatering, soil disposal. You will also be part of the on call rotation for spill response and record maintenance.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Designing and coordinating dewatering of contaminated sites to facilitate construction activities
  • Hiring and coordinating asbestos abatement contractors, excavators, and petroleum equipment contractors for demolition and tank removal projects
  • Ensuring proper disposal of contaminated soil and water in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Submitting required notifications to state and local agencies for demolitions and tank removals
  • Developing effective bid packages to bid all projects to ensure best pricing
  • Maintaining our in house environmental database and spill response plan
  • Drafting soil management plans for projects and construction activities
  • Organizing, tracking, and processing environmental claims for reimbursement with applicable state agencies

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Chemistry or related field.
  • At least one year of experience with environmental consulting and/or environmental support related to construction is required.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations to provide proper direction to environment consultants working on clean-up projects.
  • Knowledge of petroleum equipment compliance codes in WI, IA, & MN to ensure proper testing and compliance is being met.
  • Knowledge to read and comprehend site plans as well as basic building construction practices to provide technical support.
  • Knowledge and/or basic skills of Microsoft products, AS400, Maximo, OnBase, tank monitor programs, Adobe, Service Channel & Outlook.            
  • Knowledge of operational performance of petroleum equipment to be able to troubleshoot for service and fuel loss investigation.
  • Knowledge of methods used in preparing statistical and other reports containing budget information and recommendations to provide accurate and complete reports.
  • Skills in interpreting and programing tank monitors.
  • Ability to manage and maintain positive vendor relationships; as demonstrated by negotiating mutually beneficial contracts.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, outstanding customer service, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret code in relation to petroleum equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and act as a liaison with state regulators while effectively carrying out state requests.               
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement within the context of approved goals and budgets; establishing goals, plans, and policies for areas of responsibilities.
  • Willingness to learn additional job tasks.

 

Work schedule: Forty-five hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with some evening meetings and overnights.
