Due to Kwik Trip’s continued growth and commitment to safety we are adding a full-time Production Operations Sanitation Manager.

 

While best known for our product and service offerings to our 8 million retail guests each week throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa, a lesser-known fact is that beautiful La Crosse, WI is home to our ever expanding 140+ acre support campus.  Our La Crosse Campus includes a wide variety of production facilities, distribution center, truck maintenance facility, transportation/logistics, store construction, fuel trading, sales, and pretty much every support department you can imagine a 36,000-co-worker strong organization would have.

 

Kwik Trip’s Production Operations department provides support to our Production facilities: Bakery, Bread & Bun, Dairy, and Kitchens. We are currently looking for a Production Operations Sanitation Manager who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and standardizing company sanitation programs and policies and ensure that all tasks performed comply with regulatory and company specific policies. This position will work with the production operations management team, sanitation managers and supervisors in each production facility, chemical company, and pest control company. The position reports to the Director of Production Operation.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Directing all activities necessary for the cleaning and sanitizing of our Bakery, Bread & Bun, Dairy, and Kitchens
  • Conduct verification and validations of sanitation programs in each production facility
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Safety and Sanitation teams to develop and manage a Master Sanitation schedule for each facility.
  • Create a safe working environment for personnel working in sanitation, help maintain SDS’s, work with chemical supplier to provide chemical training. Training to include personal safety, personal protective equipment, chemical safety, lock-out tag-out, food safety, Hygienic design, GMP’s sanitation principles, COP and CIP systems, and Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s)
  • Facilitate root cause analysis for non-compliant areas, develop and implement corrective actions to improve effectiveness of cleaning.
  • Communicates directly with USDA, Quality Assurance, Safety and/or Operations on matters of plant sanitation
  • Monitors microbiological reports determine whether cleaning procedures are being followed
  • Develops and implements new methods, procedures, and systems to improve sanitation performance
  • Oversee chemical budget for each production facility
  • Review current written and continued development of procedures/Dozuki guides to actual cleaning tasks being performed and update as necessary
  • Review chemical inventory usage for each production facility

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Six or more years' experience in food manufacturing operations and/or sanitation experience in food processing and an ability to coordinate technical knowledge with production activities.
  • Must have working knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles and practices, and production processes and equipment used in the food industry (HACCP, PCQI, Hygienic Design, SQF or other GFSI systems).
  • Continuous improvement experience based on True Lean.
  • Extensive knowledge of the food and beverage industry (preferred experience in the dairy industry, USDA (meats and other proteins) and FDA.
  • CIP and COP cleaning methods.
  • Detailed knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to design and implement training programs.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience with the use of Microsoft Office Products.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field.

 

 

Work Schedule:  Must be flexible to work with entire sanitation team by working with different shifts and weekends as required.
