Kwik Trip, Inc.’s Store Engineering Department is currently looking for a skilled Procurement Manager I. This position is responsible for procuring the materials and equipment needed to support new store construction, various capital projects, and the repair and maintenance functions provided by the department on campus and at Retail. 

 

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Orchestrating purchase order for parts, services and/or special tools
  • Analyze and evaluate the cost, quality, and suitability of supplies, materials, and equipment against specifications
  • Serve as a liaison between end user and supplier to negotiate and authorize warranty contracts
  • Collaborate with team and other departments to develop and implement procurement policies, procedures, strategies, and support programs
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best deal for Kwik Trip including but not limited to: FOB price, freight, demo and labor allowances, etc.
  • Consult with vendors to obtain product information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Study market prices and trends, developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned categories
  • Be the “go to” expert for Kwik Trip for the assigned product categories purchased for inventory at the Distribution Center, which may include products/supplies/packaging for production, support center, operations, category management, etc. depending on the product category.
  • Prepare purchase orders, review proposals, and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations
  • Work with Warehouse and other departments to look into new ways to reduce on hand inventory while fully supporting the construction and project schedule

In addition, this person will collaborate with Warehouse Managers and Receiving to manage inventory levels; monitor project and construction schedules to ensure adequate inventories are available while attempting to operate at a low level of inventory; work with other departments such as Category Management, Food Service, and Retail.

 

Qualifications:  Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and three to five years of relevant experience in related field. Previous Construction Procurement experience / knowledge is a plus. Candidate should have a clear understanding of basic financial measures (throughput, cost of goods sold, weeks supply and etc.) and how to maximize these metrics. Candidate must also possess the following: negotiation skills; ability to think, plan, and act with a creative approach to problem solving and be able to perform in demanding circumstances with competing priorities; ability to read blueprints; strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; financial acumen; exercise sound judgment within company guidelines; prioritize and manage multiple tasks; meet deadlines; proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; attention to detail and accuracy; team player; self-motivated; experience with Maximo and SAP beneficial.

 

Candidate must be willing to live in close proximity to La Crosse, WI.

 

Work Schedule:  Typically Monday through Friday, daytime hours.
