Kwik Trip, Inc.’s Store Engineering/Environmental Department is based in La Crosse, WI and services our 700+ plus retail store locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois.


The Store Engineering/Environmental Department has an opportunity for full-time Environmental Projects Coordinator I. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance requirements are being met per state and EPA regulations at all retail and nonretail facilities by carrying out contract and project management.


Responsibilities include but are certainly not limited to:

  • Staying up to date on changes / revisions on all state codes and EPA regulations

  • Developing and maintaining contracts, bid packages, vendor expectations and internal educational documents

  • Working closely with vendors regarding test scheduling, trade bids, workloads and price negotiations

  • Act as a liaison with State Petroleum inspectors

  • Managing the renewal process for IA tags and WI permits annually, calibration equipment, and certificate requirements for fuel services

  • Provide trouble shooting and technical support to vendors and internal personnel

  • Managing and coordinating miscellaneous projects; managing vendor schedules, assist in compliance budget, seeking out new vendors, small petroleum equipment repairs



  • Associates Degree in related field and/or at least 3 years of petroleum equipment, construction management or compliance experience is required.

  • Possess Class AB Operator Certificates in WI, IA & MN or have the ability to obtain them.

  • Knowledge of petroleum equipment, installation and service practices, state and federal codes, and the ability to read and interpret test documents related to compliance.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret information into meaningful results.

  • Lead, teach, and persuade others through cooperation and teamwork.

  • Exercise sound judgment within company guidelines.

  • Follow and enforce company policies.

  • Ability to read and comprehend site plans.

  • Meet department deadlines.

  • Ability to identify and complete tasks without direct supervision.

  • Willingness to learn additional job tasks.

  • Strong organizational skills and excellent customer service skills.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

  • Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.


Work schedule: 45 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with some evening meetings and overnights.
